What is a telehandler skip?
Telehandler skips, also known as ‘tele skips’, are specialised containers designed for use with telehandlers.
Unlike standard skips, these appliances are engineered with specific attachments compatible with telehandler lifting mechanisms.
The appliance automatically attaches to floating forks using a gas strut rather than safety chains, as is common with traditional tipping skips. The gas strut also ensures positive locking for reduced vibration.
Telehandlers can also lift waste without self-tipping or pivot mechanisms because they make automatic adjustments independently. This, and other features such as the telehandler’s ability to automatically lock and unlock, limits the need for a driver to exit the cab.
As health and safety standards improve, telehandler skips present construction sites with a more reliable option. Their durable steel construction means they can survive even the toughest on-site conditions.
What are the primary uses of a telehandler skip?
- Waste management: Telehandler skips make construction site waste management more efficient. They can handle waste materials like rubble, wood, and metal scraps.
- Material handling: Telehandler skips are invaluable for transporting sand, gravel, and other bulk items. They can quickly move materials from storage areas to the site, streamlining your construction processes.
- Agricultural use: Telehandler skips are often used for handling feed, manure, and farm-related materials.
- Industrial applications: In factories and warehouses, these skips can move goods, raw materials, and even finished products. Their steel construction means they can handle the weight and stress of industrial use.
