UKCA Mark on Skips

UKCA Mark on Skips - The Law in 2023

UKCA Mark

Did you know there is a new product marking for Great Britain ?

Any new forklift tipping skip you purchase in the UK should now display the UKCA (UK Conformity Assessment) mark.

What is the UKCA Mark ?

The UKCA mark is the new  UK product marking that applies to certain products (such as forklift skips) that are placed on the market in Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland) which came into effect on January 1st 2021 once the Brexit transition period ended

Now that the UK has left the EU, any forklift skips purchased should now be displaying the UKCA mark (although there has been a transition period granted up until January 1st 2022)

Does my forklift skip still have to be CE marked ?

The UKCA mark replaces the CE mark for most goods (such as forklift skips) which previously required CE marking.

Your forklift tipping skip may still show both markings, which is fine, if your supplier also sells their forklift skips into the EU

My tipping skip does not show the UKCA mark ?

Your forklift skip may not show the UKCA mark at the moment as many suppliers are still implementing the new marking (An adjustment grace period has been allowed, so CE marking is still allowed until January 1st 2022)

Having the UKCA mark now displayed on your forklift tipping skips however shows that your supplier has acted upon the new guidelines and is committed to providing you with tipping skips that  fully comply with the UK Declaration of Conformity
